In its cattle feedlot business, which were effectively acquired in Januari 2008, steps have been taken to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from cattle, thus helping minimize global warming. In order to mitigate the environmental impact of cattle waste, the Company is constructing a biogas facility at its Lampung Bekri feedlot.
The Lampung Bekri cattle waste management facility is the first of its kind in the world to be receive UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) approval as an “Approved Methane Abatement Project”. The waste processing methodology utilizes an “anaerobic digester” which is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20,000 tons CO2 equivalent every year. This project is part of the “Carbon Credit” based initiative to reduce the impact of the greenhouse gases on global warming.
