Padang, Padek – Now, West Sumatran stock-farmers do not have to want of lacking the stock feeds anymore. Today, Mr. Vice President, HE Jusuf Kalla, will officially announce the operations of stock feedmill in Padang Industrial Park, Padang. The plant was built by PT Multiphala Agrinusa which is one of PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia Tbk''s subsidiaries.
Also attending in this event were some related state ministers. “We have already prepared everything for this ceremony. We hoped that this event would run well and successfully,” said the Vice President of Public Relation PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia Tbk, R. Artsanti Alif, yesterday. According to this ‘daughter in-law of a Minang native’, PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia''s existence in West Sumatra is related to its willingness in helping the farmers to get the stock feed.
According to the plan, the plant with 100,000 tons/year production capacity will start its commercial operation in the middle of this year.
The plant will require corn supplies as one of its main raw materials, in a relatively large quantity, or about 4.000 tons of corns annually. In the future, the production is targeted to increase up to 200.000 tons per year. This would mean that, in addition to the fact that the farmers’ needs for stock feed are now covered, the corn growers in West-Sumatera would also benefit from the new feedmill.
In a macro scale, the plant may also drag the economic growth in this area. The immediate impact would be the labor absorption that will support the production activities of this plant. West Sumatra''s Governor, Gamawan Fauzi took a positive response on the existence of the new stock feedmill because it will really support the West-Sumateran farmers by ensuring the availability of stock feed supply. Moreover, West Sumatra is widely known as the main chickens and eggs supplier for its neighbouring areas like Riau, Riau Island and Jambi.
“This means that, by the existence of this plant, the current farmers’ dependency on stock feed supplies that should also be able to cover the community’s demand from the surrounding four provinces are currently satisfied”, said Gamawan. Japfa who invest its capital to build the biggest feedmill in West Sumatra, is one of the most prominent agri – business companies in Indonesia. This company and its subsidiaries operate in stock feeds production, chickens breeding, aquaculture and consumer products.
This Padang Feedmill will be a further addition to the existing eight plants constructed in Sidoarjo, Makasar, Sragen, Cirebon, Tangerang, Lampung, Medan and Bati – bati in south Kalimantan. Under its consumer product lines, Japfa, through its subsidiaries, also produces processed meat, which main products are chicken nuggets, meat balls, corned meat under the brand name of ''So Good'', processed beef under the brand name of ''Santori Beef'', ‘ready-to-eat’ sausage under the brand ''Sozzis'' brand and also Hollanda biscuits.
These brands are already widely known among the people. It is not so surprising if So Good won an award as the best brand in the years 2005 and 2006 under the consumer product category from MARS Marketing & Research company in cooperation with the SWA magazine. Meanwhile, Sozzis also got the best brand for the year 2006. (two)
